Projects
Resume Matcher
Creator & Maintainer
2020 – Present
Resume Matcher is one of the fastest growing open-source projects in the recruiting area. Create tailored resumes for specific job descriptions using AI in seconds.
I started Resume Matcher in 2020 because I was frustrated watching people pay $200/year for tools like JobScan and Rezi.ai when the core problem—optimizing resumes for ATS systems—could be solved with open-source software. Five years later, it’s scaled to 100K+ clones and a 2,400-member Discord community.
What I shipped:
- Full-stack rewrite (Dec 2025) migrating from a Python script to a production-grade app using Python, FastAPI, Next.js, Tailwind CSS, and LiteLLM
- 100+ LLM provider support via LiteLLM, allowing users to bring their own API keys or run completely locally with Ollama (no data sent externally)
- PDF parsing (Markitdown), backend PDF generation (Playwright), and keyword optimization to ensure resumes pass ATS filters
- Master resume → tailored resume flow: users upload a base resume + job description, the tool generates an optimized version, then they edit in a built-in resume builder and download ATS-friendly PDFs
Tech Stack: Python, FastAPI, Next.js, Tailwind CSS, GitKeep (DB), LiteLLM, Ollama, Playwright, Markitdown Beyond code:
- Managed 300+ issues/PRs using automation tools (Cubic for code review)
- Built product roadmap based on community feedback (e.g., local-first privacy with Ollama)
- Accepted into Vercel OSS Program 2025 for free hosting, infrastructure credits, and support
- Received emails from users worldwide (US, China, India) reporting successful job interviews after using the tool
